Install Instructions#

Download latest version of SMS Event Log-win-{version}.zip from download link. (ask Jayme for link if you don’t have it).
Right click zip archive SMS Event Log-win-{version}.zip > Extract All to C:\Users\{your_user_name}.
- This will create the folder: C:\Users\{your_user_name}\SMS Event Log
Double click C:\Users\{your_user_name}\SMS Event Log\SMS Event Log.exe to open.
Set your default minesite with Ctrl + Shift + M. This will determine the default data refreshed in many tables, and is saved as a persistent setting between restarts/updates.

Tip

Once app is running, right click the SMS Event Log icon in taskbar and select Pin to Taskbar or Pin to Start to create a persistent shortcut.

Note

On the first open, Windows will prevent the app from opening with a blue ‘Protected your PC’ screen. Press More info then select Run Anyways.
If you have to manually re-download (eg auto-update isn’t working) it will be faster to first delete the existing folder C:\Users\{your_user_name}\SMS Event Log before extracting the new one.

The event log checks for updates on startup, periodically, or when a user selects Help > Check for Updates.
When an update is available, follow the prompts to download/extract update/restart. (Restart can take ~30-60s).
Patch updates (eg x.x.1) can be dismissed if updates/fixes are not relevant to user.
- Use this avoid frequent updates/restarts.
- Update prompt can be shown again with Help > Check for Updates.

Warning

Sometimes errors may occur as a result of the database connection being dropped.

If errors occur when setting table cell data, the issue can often be resolved with Database > Reset database connection.
